Introduction

We are currently developing a pilot events program to be run in partnership with the Newlands NECCHi community house in Coburg, Victoria, Australia.

Rose and Mack are heading up this initiative but are keen to get a variety of co-facilitators to join the crew and make this a diverse and expansive program. Please use this link to MOMA's Discord communications server and then join the Cafe Collaboration channel.

We will also use this wiki page to develop ideas and promote the program.

Playful Creative: A weekly events program

Fancy a serving of social art-making topped with a dash of creative play as part of your Sunday Brunch? The MOMA Collective presents a unique community arts project that blends game-making and playing with story-telling, art making and art sharing. We provide an ND/Queer friendly space that welcomes allies, families and friends - all ages, genders, cultures and ethnicities are respected and encouraged to participate. Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult please.

This innovative community arts space is founded on the philosophies of 'art as a spiritual practice' and 'arts activism' (Artivism). "You are never too young too be validated as an artist and never too old to claim this as your birthright", says Loretta Monetta, Chief Curator at the Museum of Moving Art. You don't need any special skills or equipment to participate, just a willingness to playfully explore your own creativity.

THE SPACE The Newlands NECCHi Neighbourhood House is a light-filled and welcoming space set in the parklands of Coburg North.

There's a quiet room and a garden if you need time out - the whole venue is wheelchair accessible. If you have skills and techniques that you are keen to share, go for it - the whole thing runs on skill sharing. You are welcome to propose a workshop or two to add to the weekly program.

FORMAT Group activities and workshops will be facilitated in the first hour - these will vary from week to week. We intend to cover a broad range of arts & crafts creative modalities and forms. You can also bring along your own projects if you like.

There's lots of space and we want to keep it fun and relatively informal (it's a program of facilitated activities not an educational course).

Refreshments and chat: There's a break at 11 for a cuppa and a feed. Please consider bringing a plate of food to share if you can. Tea, coffee & biscuits will be provided.

Freestyle: The last hour is not structured, it is a time to hang out and maybe finish off projects already underway. A great time to try something new or try something inspired by others.
