The Museum of Moving Art exists in a fantasy world. We call the fictional narrative that forms the foundation of the MOMA hybrid-game "the Story Garden". In a recursive way, the gameplay also enhances and develops the Story Garden. This happens:
- face-to-face in the tabletop and live action role playing iterations of our game
- online here - through player contributions the fantasy grows in this Story Garden section of the wiki
- in open world simulators and any other iterations of the MOMA Game
A world-class institution on a small Pacific island
Once upon a time there was an island in the south Pacific called Fafifi. It is in a rare class of Pacific islands, in that Fafifi was never colonized by the global North, in fact, by quirk of fate Island of Fafifi was simultaneously settled in 1780 by a shipload of pirates & queer refugees from London who met up with a fleet of Pacific Islanders fleeing unrelenting war on their home island Bali Hai.
The result of the fateful contact of these two quite different (yet interestingly similar) ethnic groups, is the story we are to discover and tell.
Largely the ,new settlers decided to co-operate and make love. A creole language quickly evolved along with a politics fueled by the strong tribal traditions of the Islanders and revolutionary sentiments of the alienated Europeans. The resulting population eventually formed a nation state - the Commonwealth of Fafifi.
