On 21st July 2024 about 12 people attended Playful Creative - an all abilities, all ages and queer friendly social event at the Newlands Neighbourhood House. Much work (by Rose, Mack and Antonia from wikimoma and Mitch & Tony from the Neighbourhood House), had gone into planning the event as it was hoped that it could be an ongoing regular affair. Everyone had a good time and most people said they'd like to come back, others that they would like to bring someone they knew who they thought would like it. Peta even asked if we could do it at the Reservoir Neighbourhood House! So it definitely looks like a goer.

Rose had set up for a guided activity play testing a table-top role playing game (TTRPG) called Fly Air Fafifi (which includes art making and story-telling), but most attendees on Sunday preferred to play at the side tables making art for the Musuem or doing their own projects. However, John and Rose were able to dabble in a bit of Cosplay.

A ram shackle structure of boxes and drawers built into a trolley base from a children's pram - art work sits on the top. The Basement is the name of the structure, a pop-up miniature museum iteration. It sits in a foyer next to a reception window in front of a notice board.

During the event, Peta added some structural elements forming a lower alcove in The Basement (a pop-up miniature Museum iteration built into the frame of a children's pusher), which was placed in the foyer of the Newlands Neighbourhood House. Participants put some of their artwork that they made in The Basement - for exhibition to the public. You could see the sense of satisfaction in some of the youngsters faces as their work got a pride of place in the community.
